After a week of knitting with left over yarn from the most recent intarsia project a substantial scarf has been worked.  Around 2m in length and 20cm wide, the scarf will keep out the bitterest chill.  For my own personal use though I would probably prefer a little narrower and shorter.

Working this project has the benefit of revealing attractive and unusual colour combinations influencing choices in putting together palettes for future projects. In working this project I was amazed at what a useful and versatile colour the silver grey was, it worked well with almost all the colours in the scarf.   It is certainly a colour on my re-order list for 2014.

Apart from some tarragon, all the green yarn has been used up,  clearly a useful colour to have in my stash. Pink and purple is also in very short supply. Although I intend another year of cold sheep knitting I will have to grant myself one essential purchase of Palette yarns if I am to use the remaining stash. Asphalt, rather than black is another must have for the welts of intarsia jumpers. I am not so sure though I would include asphalt  in future mai-tai scarf palettes, opting instead for darker shades such as eggplant and currant.

The yellows beige, and browns used in the scarf along with the silver were particularly appealing and fortunately I do have lots of these in my stash for future projects.  Until then though it is time to get back to some glove knitting and using up some of the bright and the bold in my stash.
